Did you know that sitting is said to be the new smoking? A standing desk can be an easy way to help you lead a healthy lifestyle. Technology has changed the way that many of us work, and we now spend the majority of our workdays sitting. Even if you exercise, sitting for longer than 30 minutes at a time has been found to reduce life expectancy, increase the chance of developing back pain due to poor posture, and possibly even make us less productive. Being at home with my kidlets rarely allows me to sit for longer than 2 minutes at a time, but that isn’t the case when I’m doing my other job as a Naturopathic Doctor and online health
coach. As a result, this got me thinking about getting a standing desk to help decrease my sitting time while working and make it easier for me to lead a healthy lifestyle. As luck would have it, I got the opportunity to try out an AnthroDesk, and jumped (or should I say “stood up”?) at the chance! The AnthroDesk arrived within a few days of ordering it. It was quick and easy to assemble. It is a bit heavier than I expected, but still light enough that it can easily be moved around to different work locations if desired. It can be adjusted without difficulty to accommodate different heights as well. I like that it can be used in both a sitting and standing position.
Have you tried a sit-stand desk? If so, what has your experience been?
