When life gets chaotic, don’t forget to take care of yourself
June has been fun so far- but also more than a little full.
There have been late evenings at baseball diamonds and early dinners eaten beforehand. School trips, year-end celebrations, work, and the seemingly never-ending laundry and always dirty dishes to deal with. And we leave this week for a two-week trip to Paris and Germany.
All amazing things. Definitely not complaining. But… let’s just say the routine has taken a bit of a hit.
You may be in a different season of life than me, but I think we all know what it’s like when life gets a little chaotic. And in the middle of all that, it’s easy to forget about taking care of yourself.
Even when life feels full and unpredictable, a few simple habits help me stay (mostly) on track:
• I keep the fridge- and the tiered tray on our kitchen island-stocked with ready-to-grab fruits and veggies. When time is short, it’s okay to grab pre-cut trays.
•I get the kids involved in making dinners (they each have an assigned night to help) so Steve and I aren’t doing it all ourselves
• I use the FASTer Way app to find simple meals. There are hundreds of easily searchable recipes that make use of ingredients I already have on hand. I plan out meals before I go grocery shopping to make sure we have the ingredients we need.
• And I make my workouts non-negotiable. No matter what else is going on, I still deserve that time for me.
