How my seamstress got me thinking about our health
Sleeves shortened, length adjusted — it’s amazing what a few small tweaks can do. Taken before a full day of patient consults, doing what I love most: helping women feel their best. And I feel great too (fuzzy slippers included!)!
I have to admit — I’ve been gatekeeping something.
But it’s too good not to share.
I recently found the best local seamstress, and she’s completely changed how I feel about my wardrobe.
We all have those pieces hanging in our closet that we almost love — the ones we reach for and think, “If only the sleeves were shorter… if only this fit just a little differently.” We often don’t wear them, or if we do, we don’t feel fully comfortable in them.
Well, my seamstress has been making those small adjustments — shortening sleeves, tweaking seams, fixing lengths so they flatter my shape — and suddenly, my clothes fit exactly how I want them to. I feel more confident and comfortable — and I’m shopping less because I’m finally enjoying what I already have.
And it got me thinking… this is exactly how we should approach our health.
So many women I work with have tried supplement after supplement, program after program, diet after diet — often based on something they saw on social media or heard from a friend. But they still feel like something’s off, or not quite right.
Because just like clothing, health is not one-size-fits-all.
That’s where I come in.
As a Naturopathic Doctor and FASTer Way coach, I’m like a seamstress for your health.
I take the time to look at you as a whole person — your labs, your lifestyle, your hormones, what’s worked (and what hasn’t). Then I tailor a plan that actually fits your body and your goals.
Just this week, I had several patients who had been told they were “fine” or “everything is normal” because their blood work fell within the lab range — but from my perspective, they were far from optimal. And those subtle imbalances were exactly what was keeping them from feeling as good as they deserve to. I see this all the time.
Yes, it’s an investment to come and see me — but it’s one that can save you a lot in the long run. Instead of continuing to spend on random supplements or “quick fixes,” you’ll have a clear, personalized plan that actually gets results.
I’m happy to pay my seamstress because I love the clothes in my closet again — and I’m saving money in the long run by buying fewer new things.
Your health works the same way. And unlike clothing, you only get one life — we can’t just go out and buy a new one. There’s truly nothing more important than investing in your health.
