The Truth About What Your Hormones Really Need

Midlife can be your strongest chapter yet — and I’m building something to help you get there.

This might be a little controversial…

but walking does not count as exercise in the way most women over 40 need it to.

And neither does yoga.

They’re both fantastic forms of movement — they support stress, mobility, mental health, and overall wellbeing. But when it comes to hormonal balance, metabolism, and aging well, they simply can’t do the job on their own.

Here’s the part most women never hear:

If you’re not strength training, you are losing muscle.

And muscle is one of the most important foundations your hormones rely on.

It impacts:

  • Digestion

  • Blood sugar control

  • Inflammation

  • Bone density

  • Stress resilience

This is why lifting 3–5 lb weights a few times a week usually doesn’t create real change.

To maintain (or build) muscle, you need progressive overload — weights or reps that actually challenge you.

And yes — women in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s can absolutely get stronger. I see it every single week.

How this ties into hormone balance

Behind the scenes, I’m creating something I’m really excited about: my Midlife Hormone Blueprint.

It’s a foundational framework for women who want to understand why they don’t feel like themselves — and what to do about it. It centers around four key pillars that truly move the needle in midlife:

  • Digestion

  • Detoxification

  • Nervous system balance

  • Mitochondrial function

It’s a guided, personalized framework I’ll be using with my naturopathic patients — helping you move through each pillar with clarity, support, and a plan tailored to your body.

I’ll be sharing more in the new year, but here’s why I’m mentioning it now:

Muscle supports every single one of these pillars.

This is why strength training isn’t optional in midlife — it’s essential.

It gives your hormones the environment they need to actually function well.

It’s a roadmap to help you take ownership of your health and feel your best, so midlife becomes a chapter of strength and confidence — not like menopause is “happening to you”.
