I Didn’t Know How Tired I Was…Until I Wasn’t

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on something that feels really good to say out loud: I feel happy.

Not the surface kind of happy that comes and goes, but a deep sense of contentment. I feel good in my body, energized about what’s ahead in my business, and more present with my family.

But that’s not the way it’s always been.

Looking back, it’s been quite a journey to get here. When I graduated from Naturopathic College in 2003, I was completely burnt out. I was the kind of student who thought if there were more hours in the day, I should spend them studying — always aiming for A+.

After finishing school, I dove straight into practice. I had just passed my licensing exams (another gruelling process) and immediately started building my practice from scratch. I had to learn how to be both a Naturopathic Doctor and a business owner — all while trying to find my footing in a new small town, and then a few years later, adding motherhood into the mix.

I worked hard. Really hard. And somewhere along the way, I stopped realizing how tired I’d become. I just thought that was the way it felt to be doing what I was doing.

By the time I had four kids, I got an inkling that something had to change. All the things I was doing started to feel like too much — and while I know sometimes work feels like work, I also believe it should bring joy. That belief is what pushed me to shift my practice online and sell the multi-disciplinary clinic I was co-running so that I could simplify and create more space in my life.

Since then, I’ve done a lot of work on myself — physically, mentally, and emotionally. I’ve addressed my dreadfully low iron, prioritized sleep, rebuilt my energy, and brought more balance to my hormones. I’ve also made space for the things that bring me joy — travel, connection, and rediscovering what fun means to me.

And now, at 49, I can honestly say: I feel better than I did in my 20s and 30s.

It didn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of intentional change — in how I care for my body, my mindset, and my boundaries. And I’m still very much a work in progress.

I know many women don’t feel this way right now. You might be wondering, “Is this really all there is?” or “Am I just going to feel tired forever?”

If that’s you, please know this: there is a way through.

You don’t have to stay stuck in exhaustion or frustration with your body.

When you start supporting your hormones, fuelling your body with the nutrition it needs (it changes after 40!), building strength, and creating space to rest — everything changes. You feel energized, more focused, and more you again. It’s possible, and I can guide you through how to do it.

If you’re ready to start feeling better, my next 3-Week FASTer Way Reset begins December 1st.

This is honestly an amazing time to jump in.

• feeling stronger and motivated by a consistent exercise routine that feels sustainable

… and this was all done by focusing on progress not perfection.

Join the December 1st Reset ($99 for the last time!)

Or book a 1:1 Naturopathic Consultation if you prefer a deeper, personalized plan (I still have a couple of consult spots left this week)
